HIDDEN TREASURES

Yesterday, I went treasure hunting with a guy named Brandon Harris. I mention his name because he is really good at finding stuff, and I expect he's going to become more well known in the treasure hunting field! He does metal detecting and artifact hunting, among other things.

Most of the time we spent digging and burying in various spots. When he finally found his first piece of silver for the day, he lit up like a kid on Christmas morning, and was eager to help me experience the same joy. Brandon's dad gave him the nickname, Crack Badger, because he says when Brandon finds treasure he acts like a badger... well, you get the idea!

Although I shared in his joy over finding the three really awesome pieces he found yesterday, nothing could compare to my thrill over finding a 1939 Silver Quarter for me to keep! I polished the coin and stored it in a little coin holder that Brandon provided. I have a couple of fairly rare coins from my dad, but there's nothing like having my own find!

This is how God feels about you! You are his masterpiece for which he was willing to sell everything in order to purchase. He sent his own Son to pay the price for you. Then he joyfully added you, not only as a treasured possession, but also as a family member! "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" (1John 3:1a)

If you want to find out more about the treasure we are to God, and he is to us, let me recommend my mom's blog, Hidden Treasures. Her goal is to "...guide you to a living relationship with Jesus Christ!"

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. -Matthew 13:44
